Tienvarsikahvio/kioski / Roadside Kiosk [FIN/ENG]

Erään vilkkaan tien varressa näimme suljetun ja hylätyn kahvilan/kioskin. Pysähdyimme paikalle tutkimaan ja kuvaamaan paikkaa.

On the side of a very busy road, we spotted a cafeteria/kiosk that had been shut down and abandoned. We stopped to take a look and to take some pictures.

Luultavasti jo useampia vuosia suljettuna ollut rakennus näytti päällepäin hyväkuntoiselta. Ikkunat oli peitetty jonkinlaisilla kankailla, joten sisään ei nähnyt. Yllätys oli se, että ikkunat olivat vielä ehjät. Ovi, josta luultavasti kioskin työntekijät olivat kulkeneet, oli suljettu lukolla, eikä siinäkään näyttänyt olevan ilkivallan merkkejä. Ihmettelimme kovasti tätä, koska yleensä ilkivallantekijät juuri tuhrivat ja särkevät tälläisia paikkoja. Paikkoja, joilla ei ole naapureita ihan lähettyvillä. Mutta onneksi tämä rakennus on saanut olla rauhassa.

The building, that had probably been closed for several years, seemed to be in a rather good shape on the outside. The windows had been covered with cloths of some kind, so it was impossible to see what the inside looked like. The fact that the windows were still intact was a surprise. A door, most likely used by the staff, was sealed with a lock, with no signs of vandalism there either. We were puzzled by this, as this is exactly the kind of place that vandals work their questionable magic on, with no neighbours anywhere to be seen. Luckily this building has been left at peace.

Pysähdyspaikka on luultavasti ollut suosittu aikoinaan ja varmaankin monet matkalaiset ja ammattiautoilijat ovat pysähtyneet jaloittelemaan ja virkistäytymään kahvilla, jäätelöllä yms. tarjolla olleilla herkuilla. Rakennuksen takaa löytyi kylttejä ja niistä päättelimme, että kesällä on paikalla ehkä ollut myös mansikanmyyjä. Takaa löytyi myös paljon sellaista tavaraa, että on tainnut joku pitää sitä kaatopaikkanaan. Minkähän takia ei ole vienyt tavaroita kaatopaikalle, laiskuusko lie iskenyt? Siinä se rakennus seisoo paikallaan, odotellen aikoja parempia jotka ei enää koskaan luultavasti palaa. Tuulessa ja tuiskussa autojen ajaessa ohi, ei kukaan enää pysähdy.

The lay-by has probably been very popular in the past, with many travellers all over the country have stopped to stretch their legs and get some refreshing coffee, ice cream and whatever treats has been on offer. There were signs behind the building that indicate that there might have been strawberries on sale during summertime. There was also a lot of rubble at the back, it looked like someone has been dumping their rubbish there. We can only wonder why they haven't taken it to the rubbish dump. But the building stands there, waiting for better days that will most likely never come. In the rain and the snow, cars travelling by, with no one stopping for coffee anymore.
