Vanhustentalo Nuottimäki / The Nuottimäki Rest Home [FIN/ENG]

Tuulisella paikalla Nuottimäen päällä sijaitseva tiilirakenteinen ja ulkopinnaltaan rapattu vanhainkoti. Ehkä joskus 1950-luvulla rakennettu paikalle, jossa on ennestään ollut maatila. Pihapiiriin kuuluu myös luultavasti maatilan ajoilta oleva pitkä puurakennus, pihan perällä puurakenteinen navetta ja ehkä 1980-luvulla rakennettu henkilökunnan asuntola sekä vaja. Toiminta jatkui 2000 -luvun alkuvuosiin asti (tarkkaa sulkemisvuotta ei ole tiedossa), todennäköisesti sulkemisvuosi voisi olla v.2005 seutuvilla. Toukokuussa v.2012 päärakennuksessa riehunut tulipalo tuhosi rakennuksen katon ja suuren osan sisätiloista.

On top of Nuottimäki, in a windy field stands a plastered brick building, the Nuottimäki Rest Home. Built around the 1950s in the place of what once was a farm, other buildings in the area include a long, wooden structure, a wooden barn in the back of the yard, a staff house (possibly built in the 1980s) and a shed. The rest home was in active use until the early 2000s (the exact year of closure is unknown) and was possibly closed around 2005. In May 2012 the main building caught fire, destroying the roof and most of the interior.

Saavuimme paikalle sateisena lokakuun päivänä. Aikaisemmin paikalla vierailleiden kuvista ja kertomuksista mieleen oli painunut jonkinlainen kuva paikasta. Mutta kaikki ne hävisivät mielestä, kun itse näki millainen paikka oli. Tulipalossa tuhoutunut päärakennus oli pysäyttävä näky, koskaan aikaisemmin ei vielä oltu nähty sellaista. Jotenkin siitä hetkestä tuli jonkinlainen käännekohta tähän harrastukseen. Ehkä ensimmäisen kerran todella ymmärsi mistä urbaanissa löytöretkeilyssä on kysymys. Edes vesisade ei haitannut valokuvaamista ja alueen tutkimista. Tuntui, kuin aika olisi kadonnut ja ainoastaan se hetki oli olemassa. Pitkä puurakennus piti sisällään mielenkiintoisia asioita, sinne oli jäänyt nojatuoli, ylioppilaslakki, valokuvia jne. Tuntui, että ne ovat tavaroita menneestä maailmasta. Paikalla asuneiden ihmisten historiasta kertovia esineitä. Kysymys "miksi tavarat ovat jääneet sinne" nousi monesti mieleen.

We arrived at the rest home on a rainy October day with an already existing image of the place in our heads, due to seeing pictures and reading stories by others who had visited the site. However, all of that was soon forgotten, once we saw the place for ourselves. The main building, which had been destroyed by a fire, was a startling sight, as we had never seen anything like it before. Somehow that moment became a turning point of sorts. Quite possibly for the first time ever, we truly understood what urban exploring really is about. Even the heavy rainfall couldn't stop us from taking pictures and exploring the area. It felt like time had just disappeared and only that moment existed. The long, wooden building (pictured below) had a collection of interesting things inside of it; people had left behind an armchair, a student cap and even stacks of old photographs. It seemed like they were items from a past world, items that told the history of the people who had lived there. ''Why have these things been left behind?'' was a question that came up multiple times.

Alueen muut rakennukset olivat yllättävänkin hyvässä kunnossa. Tuulet ja sateet eivät olleet vielä tehneet tuhojaan ja paikalla ei myöskään näkynyt ilkivallan merkkejä. Onhan paikka sen verran syrjässä, että ei sinne jokainen kulkija eksy, mutta urbex-harrastajalle kohde on todella mielenkiintoinen.

The other buildings at the site were in a surprisingly good shape, the wind and rain hadn't done their damages yet and there were no signs of vandalism. Of course, the place is very secluded and one does not simply end up there, but for an urban explorer, this site is extremely interesting.

Edit: Pienen etsiväntyön jälkeen saimme selville, että palanut rakennus ei ollutkaan itse vanhainkoti vaan työntekijöiden asuntola; alueen päärakennus vaikuttaisi olevan punainen puutalo. / After some research, we found out that the building destroyed in the fire wasn't in fact the rest home, but rather a hall of residence for the staff. The red building appears to have been the rest home.
